WEST LIBERTY, Ky. – Morgan County High School Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Shandra Whitehouse as the new head coach of the Lady Cougar volleyball program. Whitehouse joins the program after serving as the Morgan County Middle School softball coach for the past three seasons, where she has established herself as a dedicated leader committed to developing student-athletes and building successful teams. Whitehouse replaces Ashtyn Bidwell, who resigned after leading the Lady Cougars since 2022. During Bidwell's four seasons at the helm, the Lady Cougar volleyball program steadily moved in a positive direction. Morgan County increased its win total in each of the past three seasons while building a strong foundation for future success. Morgan County Athletics would like to thank Coach Bidwell for her dedication, leadership, and the lasting impact she made on the volleyball program and its student-athletes. Morgan County High School Principal Ashley Pelfrey believes Whitehouse is the right person to continue the program's upward trajectory. "We are excited to welcome Coach Whitehouse as the next leader of our volleyball program," Pelfrey said. We are confident Coach Whitehouse will continue building on the improvements from the past four seasons while also providing a great experience for our student-athletes." Whitehouse said she is honored for the opportunity to lead the Lady Cougars. "I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next head volleyball coach at Morgan County," Whitehouse said. "This program has made tremendous progress, and I appreciate the foundation that has already been established. I look forward to getting to know our players, building strong relationships, and creating a culture centered on hard work, accountability, and pride in representing Morgan County. I can't wait to get started." A team meeting for all current and prospective Lady Cougar volleyball players will be announced following the conclusion of the KHSAA dead period on July 10.
